's listen to mitt romney talking about abortion. >> do you intend to pursue legislation specifically regarding abortion? >> there is no legislation regarding abortion that i'm familiar with that would become part of my agenda. >> now the democrats have seized on this, you can't really blame them, because his position on abortion does change, according to the strength. he was very much in favor of pro choice, governor of massachusetts, now he is in favor of pro life. but he always as a pro lifer said we need to revert to roe v wade, people say he says what suits him, depending on whether he is appealing to the hard right of the party, or as he is now, according to bill clinton, mr. moderate mitt, that we haven't seen it for a few months. >> well, first of all, i couldn't hear it very well, i assume it is referring to the des moines register. but are there piles of legislation sitting in congress that he is going to point to? the des moines register editorial board? the fact is, he is and has always been committed to being a pro-life president. he is committed to the fact that he will

's watch a clip today of governor romney talking about abortion. >> what is the correct position of governor romney? he was always saying we need to revert row wade and now he is saying not even that. people says whatever it suits him depending on whether he is appealing to the hard right. mr. moderate mitt that we haven't seen for months. >> you know, listen, to what he is referring to as far as is there piles of specific legislation that he is going to point to? the fact is, he is always has been an he is committed to being a pro life president and committed to the fact that we will not be funding planned parenthood to fund abortions and committed to the mexico city legislation so that it is being used to perform abortions and he is a pro life president and he is proud of it. you are taking that sound byte and referring to piles of legislation sitting in congress and it is much to do about nothing. this president hasn't performed and he is chasing every rob it down the trail making this about his own record and the miserable condition about the economy. >> it comes down to trus

, and romney talked about walking across this abyss. the president's response was sometimes you have to say no to people? and mitt said the first two years of his presidency, they just rammed things through without a single republican vote. that makes it probably one of the more important debates in american history, and perhaps i'm exaggerating because i'm so happy. >> i can't blame you. i can't blame any republicans because it's been a very bruising few weeks for the republicans and mitt romney, and then suddenly everything seems to have turned on its head. you're in a unique position because you've debated against both mitt romney and barack obama. interestingly, romney is believed from the latest polls to have won 67% to 25%. when you went head to head with obama in 2008, the polls said 51% obama, 38% mccain. do you think you would have done better against the obama that was debating this week? >> i think so, piers, but, you know, it would sound like i am now trying to rewrite history or i would have done better. you know, i've never tried to do any of that looking back and certainly no

is veterans anit's something he and mitt romney haven't talked about this entire campaign. they accepted their party's nomination without talking about veterans or the war in afghanistan or the troops serving there. and you know, last year, on veterans day, governor romney got a group of veterans together and suggested that we voucherize, that is privatize, the v.a. now, that's not what you heard paul ryan talk about privatizing or voucherizing medicare or like he wanted to do when he was a younger congressman, privatize social security. so it's a consistent theme of voucherization or privitization of government functions. my father has a true idea of these programs, that they are the bedrock of the middle class but the idea you privatize the veterans administration as governor romney proposed just last year is remarkable and that's what i've been traveling the country to talk about. if you believe the math, romney's program would cut $11 billion to the v.a. in year one. that treats veterans from world war ii all the way to the two wars we have been fighting for a decade. this is a time

romney's position seemed to be is obama's talked a big game but hasn't really executed on it so you've got the middle -- >> but he has, hasn't he? whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. i had this argument earlier with a senator. i said to him he literally has executed it. he executed gadhafi, bin laden. he hasn't stopped executing people. and whether you think the middle -- >> do you think that we're safer now? >> yes. >> it's true that osama bin laden was killed -- >> do i think america is safer without osama bin laden or gadhafi or any of these despots, absolutely i do. >> but we're seeing that we've just had a situation where an ambassador was killed and we were told for about a week that it was because of a movie on youtube? that doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence. i think that's what a lot of this is about. it's about okay, we're going to be strong. we are going to put action behind our words instead of just saying i hope that we'll be nice and maybe they'll like us. >> okay. let's turn to maria again. apparently we have got to be strong. what does that mean? >> look, i think mitt romn

to support mitt romney. >> who didn't say that? i just said that. >> let me finish. >> what are you talking about? i just said that. >> you actually didn't say that. >> i said it was wrong to go after stacey. are you seriously saying that i didn't say that? >> what i'm saying, charles, is that you can't just say that intolerance exists. what you need to be able to do is say when liberals are intolerant that it's wrong and call them out on it. you are somebody who they look up to. if you said it, if you called it out without having piers morgan pull it out of you, it -- >> nobody pulled anything out of me. understand this. >> i didn't hear you say it, charles. >> nobody has to pull anything out of me. not today or ever. >> i didn't hear you condemn it on twitter. >> i said that so if you want to rewrite what just happened, you do that on your own time. that's not what happened. i said that nobody should be condemned for choosing whatever point of view they want to choose. now, i said that just today on this show. if you want to try to say something else, that's not goi to happen today. you c

to the prairie. let's talk about politics. are you an obama man. switching to mitt romney. second guest tonight. why? >> it was all about change. i went all the way down the road with obama i had my own opinions about america, flat tax, all that stuff. crazy stuff that people who know nothing about politics throw out. duh. when obama laid out the platform, change, how things would happen and four years down the road and see, you know what? didn't make a difference. maybe it's larger than he is. so i'm really looking for someone to moeft neve the needl. the ratings, unemployment. national debt. the foreign policy. somebody please get in there, use some common sense is that possible. move the needle. i don't want four years of the same. >> what do you make of america right now? >> i think we're in trouble. i think across the board, you know, with the unemployment, the poverty, focusing on different foreign countries and their problems, which in my opinion, a lot of the stuff isn't our business, you know, targeting nations and nationalities when it's just a few people, such as different terrorist

was inaugurated. he is hoping the new numbers will bring him a second term. he and governor romney know the election's all about the economy and both men were trading jabs today in the battleground state of virginia. >> today's news certainly is not an excuse to try to talk down the economy to score a few political points. it's a reminder that this country has come too far to turn back now. >> when i'm president of the united states, that unemployment rate is going to come down not because people are giving up and dropping out of the work force, but because we're creating more jobs. i will create jobs and get america working again. >> let's get right to tonight's big story. with senator john mccain, the arizona senator and former presidential candidate joining me now. welcome to you, senator. >> thank you, piers. >> we are going to come to the debate in a moment. you've been one of the only people who debated both barack obama and mitt romney so you're in a unique place to tell me what you made of the new style romney and indeed, obama. before we get there, though, today's big news on t

know, john f. kennedy came from a very rich family, but the democrats don't want to talk about that. >> to be honest, i can't take the other side for real. they don't believe that that is a bad thing that he was successful. nor does i think the romney side think sometimes what they accuse obama of. you cannot take this seriously. this is a political year, there's a campaign going on. they will try to do anything they can and especially the other groups out there who paint each other in the most horrible way, that's the way politics is. and for some reason or the other, negative ads play better than positive ads. therefore, you will always play the negative ads. >> i know you haven't decided who you're going to vote for in four weeks' time, but right now, if you had to vote tomorrow, who would you vote for? >> i have to first listen to the debates and then -- >> so they're that important to you. >> it's very important. to me, the debates were absolutely important. there were times when i made a decision way before, like president bush, because of the relationship of the kind of thing
